It has taken me awhile to find the words to tell their story. It’s overwhelming to think about their journey, what they went through to get where they are now and to finally see them all together just before Christmas, peacefully at home. Their pregnancy had been anything but easy. After countless attempts to become pregnant, then to find out that one of their babies had little chance of survival. I was preparing myself for the worst, we all were.
Their story began 13 weeks ago, when the twins decided to come 7 weeks early. I’m so thankful I was a short distance away when I got the call that Jenn was going into an emergency C-section. I was there, shortness of breath….scared out of my mind that their child wouldn’t survive. My sole purpose to document their birth, regardless if McKinley didn’t make it. That’s what they wanted, and needed.
McKinley was diagnosed early on in their pregnancy that she had several major heart problems, one kidney, possible spinal complications and she wasn’t growing near the rate as she should’ve been. But, after 5 hours of rigorous tests on her heart (after her birth), she baffled the doctors. They found only minor heart defects and her spine was perfect. What they discovered was that she has an imperforate anus, manageable kidney disease, and that she will be just fine….she is an answer to prayer.
Here is the birth story of McKinley Grace and Brooks Anthony.
